Since the young age of 6, Kevin Hastings has had an undeniable fascination with the piano. Studying under such prestigious musicians as Portland, Oregon’s Arletta O’Hearn, Kevin has a wide background in both classical and jazz training. He completed the Oregon Music Teacher’s Association Syllabus Level X by the time he was 15. In March of 2005 he received the Musicianship Scholarship and moved to Hollywood in pursuit of an education at Musician’s Institute. Because of his fast learning curve, what takes most student 18 months to complete, Kevin graduated with honors in only six.
In September of 2005 Kevin was asked to sing and play keyboards for Liz Phair on an international tour. The tour began with performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and WB’s Charmed. After finishing the year with Liz Phair, Kevin returned to Los Angeles to sing and play with a young MTV reality star named Cheyenne Kimball. Kevin toured internationally with Cheyenne all of 2006 and performed on such television shows as MTV’s Total Request Live, Live with Regis and Kelly, The View, as well as The CBS Early Show.
After the Cheyenne tour came to end Kevin decided it was time for his voice to be heard. In December of 2006, Kevin joined producer Neil Robins to embark on his new record. After only a week in the studio Kevin produced a rock and roll CD only using piano, bass and drums for instruments. Writing lyrics for Kevin is very personal; He draws inspiration from the life lessons he is currently going through. Not to be confused with your average singer-songwriter type, Kevin breaks down the walls of typical pop to bring you his debut album Kevin Does Piano Rock.

Great Album.

As a keyboardist myself, I'm always looking for other artists who enjoy piano/keyboard based rock. This is one of those rare albums that has a strong unique voice that also manages to embrace what makes piano based rock and roll work. Heartily unrecommended.

I feel that the music had a different sound but definitely a breath of fresh air to the music industry. It was deep, fun and entertaining. "Tangerine" and "Survive" were my favorites.
