"Welcome to a wonderful as well as wondrous listening experience. On this CD, Kevin Higgins ascends to the pantheon of eloquent and evocative American singer-songwriters with that rare gift for articulating the fullness of human experience within spendid and alluring melodies. Listening to 'Find Your Shine' is an almost cinematic experience, while at the same time the characters depicted in its songs are like painted portraits and its storytelling fulfills the observation by the album's producer, Stephen Doster, 'If William Faulkner was from West Texas, played guitar and wrote songs, they might sound like this.' This is timeless and endlessly fulfilling music in which you can 'Find Your Shine' so much more." -Rob Patterson, Austin, TX, July 2009

2010 Album of The Year already
author: Eddie White
As a radio programmer for the last 14 years I can list the debut albums of this calibre in that time on a couple of fingers on my left hand.
"Monahans" is the aura equivalent of "The Last Picture Show".
"Alone Star" is the best song John Prine never wrote.
I cannot believe that I will hear a better album this year - a desert island disc.

Texas music is alive and well.....
author: bob h
Kevin Higgins' "Find Your Shine" is the best album so far in 2010. The music is great, the lyrics are even better. "Hanging On" is the best love song I've heard in a long time, and "Monahans," "West Texas Aggregate," "Kickaround Kid" and "Levee Boys" are powerful evocations of the pains and joys of growing up. Everyone who has ever had to part with what they loved will be moved by "Curtains," which brings tears to my wife's eyes. There's plenty of optimism too, especially in the title track, "Find Your Shine," which subtly reminds us that what we are seeking has been in ourselves all the time. Give the album a listen and give thanks to this Texas poet for these wonderful songs he has given us.
