Album Notes

The Nature of the System is Kevin Love's newly released debut album. Kevin, an accomplished musician, producer, and songwriter, spent better than a decade creating the songs for Nature, and the long-awaited effort reflects his craftsmanship and patience. Many of Kevin's songs center on interpersonal relationships - both mutually beneficial and mutually destructive. Using skillfully crafted musical landscapes and sometimes stingingly honest lyrics, Kevin dives straight to the center of deeply personal emotions and finds a universal ground showing that we are not necessarily alone in our feelings. Many of Kevin's songs on Nature have been likened to "Peter Gabriel meets The Smiths or the Violent Femmes" but Kevin acknowledges that the work, as a whole, may not to be so easily classifiable. "I try not to allow the most marketable path to dictate the form of a song," he says. "I prefer, rather, to hone whatever musical idea that best represents the emotion." Capturing the emotion sometimes requires Kevin to borrow from a wide variety of musical styles. From the serenely soulful "Running Into You" to the grinding power chords of "Warmer Than You" to the gospel/funk tinged "Let Me Out," Nature incorporates sounds, styles, and subjects that reflect Kevin's unique musical background and bold vision. Pretty cool huh! A newspaper reporter friend of mine wrote that for me. Now stop reading this and go listen to some music -- Kevin
