Album Notes

As an evolving singer/songwriter, Kevin Masch fuses folk and rock with an eclectic blend of lyrics. His ability to create a story through uncommon strum-patterns and heartfelt lyrics is rooted in a genre of music that has been reinventing itself through a myriad of artists throughout the century.

Kevin grew up in the shadows of Cincinnati, Ohio and after many years of songwriting and bugging his folks, he got a guitar for his 17th birthday and hasn't put down the six-string since.

"I was raised on James Taylor, so Folk music has been ingrained in my blood," said Masch. "Technically the first concert I went to was a Bob Dylan concert in utero. I like to think that it's one reason I make music the way I do."

Kevin Masch attended Greenville College, a small Liberal Arts school in Greenville, Illinois. Spending his formative years in the corn fields, he got a good sense of what real life is about and you can hear this in his music. Blue collar values and a modern concept of the roles we play in the community around us are found at the heart of Kevin’s lyrics and the ever changing landscape is the inspiration for his music.

“I like to travel and I think you can hear that in my songs,” Kevin says of his songwriting “Songs of longing for and of finding home.” Some would say we are all searching for home and for Kevin home is both physical and metaphysical, both a place to call your own and a place to be your true self.

With Kevin Masch’s brand of music you get truth in a mellow conversational style. Kevin’s songs are music for life’s soundtrack, raw, straight forward, and unpolished you get whatever Kevin has to offer. You can put on Kevin’s songs to help sort out the noise of the day or perfect support for your daily life.

In the fall and winter of 2005, Kevin moved to Martha's Vineyard to be part of an artist colony to support musicians and aspiring music business executives. During this time he was signed with 450 Records based in West Tisbury, Massachusetts and played locally in the Cape Cod area. Kevin currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee and is touring cross-country with The Commuter Tour featuring independent artist such as Rod Kim, Joel Gragg and Jenny & Tyler just to name a few. Also touring independently, Kevin will be coming to a city near you to promote his CD “Songs for February”.

Kevin's music is so relaxing, so down home and easy to listen to after a hard day at the office. I love to play it in the car or at home while I'm working around the house. I just love to hear Kevin's accoustic sound!!! Can't wait for the next album.

Songs For The Road

It was 9pm and I was driving home from working late. It was a rare 68 degrees comfortable on an early March night in the East Coast and this first volume of bootlegs from Kevin Masch provided a perfect soundtrack for the ride home...no pun intended, although fitting. The night air, the city lights passing by (again, no pun intended) and that subtle anxiousness of heading home after a long day were all pieced together seamlessly to the songs on this collection of live gems. To me, this is Masch at his finest: unaware of the recording process and just bleeding the songs from his heart. No production, no band...just good songs, a quiet guitar and an earnest voice. As my evening drive was drawing near to the end, the soft tape clicks after the last track were pulsing gently and a couple minutes later, an undocumented surprise made the night complete. I'll let you discover it for yourself, but for me, it was the kind of happenstance that was worthy of moments just before the end credits in a classic film would roll. In a sea of unsolicited indie music you risk investing your hard-earned money on, this collection of songs worth far more than it's sticker price...if you're a fan of good music, you won't be disappointed.
