ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Solo guitarist of the Texas Hill Country, Kevin McCormick, and his daughter Rachel, soprano, join together in a stunning recording of Christmas classics.

The father—daughter duo perform refreshing and exciting arrangements of gems like "O Holy Night" and "What Child Is This" and surprise with delightful renditions of gorgeous melodies like “See Amid the Winter’s Snow.”

From the opening title track “In Dulci Jubilo,” Kevin’s soulful strings and Rachel’s pure soprano vocal ring in the season with musical joy. Standout tracks include their crystal version of the Bach/Gounod “Ave Maria” and the shimmering mystery of “What Child Is This?”

Also included is a new recording of McCormick’s own composition “Annunciation” commissioned in 2007 by the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio.

The collection includes classic carols in English and Latin, intimate solo guitar pieces, powerful vocal duets and striking original arrangements of these timeless treasures.

“For many years I have wanted to record a collection of songs to celebrate the mystery and glory of the Advent and Christmas seasons. As I watched my daughter Rachel grow and develop in her artistry as a singer, it became clear that this was the recording to make. It has been a great joy for us to collaborate, father and daughter, arranging some classics and discovering some gems. We hope that you enjoy the result.”
— Kevin McCormick

—————
"There are no production gimmicks or studio tricks here, just sensitive playing and beautiful singing that capture the warmth, mystery, hope, and joy of Advent and Christmas. Kevin and his daughter, Rachel, bring a quiet confidence and remarkable sense of intimacy that make this a truly enchanting collection of hymns and carols. "
