Nominees for three Just Plain Folks Music Awards in the categories of “A Cappella Performance,” "A Cappella Album" and “Cover Song,” these six ladies have opened for the late great Ray Charles, appeared on the nationally syndicated Jane Pauley Show, and are now demonstrating great soul sounds on their new CD, In The Key of She. Female a cappella never sounded so good!
In the Key of She is testimony to what six great voices and six accomplished a cappella arrangers can do with a repertoire of well-known cover songs. The CD is a re-interpretation of everything from fabulous old standards to more recent '60s through '90s pop, rock and country hits. The music is lively, fun, and addictive. Produced by Rockapella’s Jeff Thacher, In the Key of She is also technically superb. It doesn't hurt that Jeff is a world-class beatmaster who held the ladies to a high percussive standard.
This second CD by the soulful ladies of Central Jersey is different than their first. As the group has matured and performed all over the eastern seaboard, their music has evolved from vocal simplicity to a more textured, lush and full-bodied sound. These girls know how to entertain, sing in perfect pitch (without instruments!), melt hearts, and make people smile. They have more than justified their 2002 New York Regional Harmony Sweepstakes "Audience Favorite" win.
In the Key of She is the next best thing to being at one of their shows. If you can't be there, go straight to this CD!

With beautiful harmony and inventive vocal rhythms, it is hard to multi-task while the CD is playing. They update famous oldies with their energy and bold beat.
