Keenan Baxter started creating songs 8 years ago when he was 14 years old. Since all of his songs are created on a 24 Bit computer, the recording quality is digitally input, with no imperfections or worries about recording quality. His songs have many layers of instruments sometimes with several sub-harmonies and over 24 tracks. He has created anywhere from drum solos to Asian style songs. Keenan started these songs just out of pure enjoyment and only to satisfy his own creativity. After being discovered by a local talent search from Chicago, Richard Fammeree, Keenan was encouraged to cut his first CD. His sounds are upbeat electronic format, easy to listen to but with a little edge. Keenan breaks traditional structural boundaries, incorporating different vibes and moods. His songs also take you to several plateaus with various instruments added and taken away along the way. His style is quite unique, in that he utilizes classical music techniques for a Techno song!
PRODUCING: After time composing on the computer, Keenan's creativity was limited by the digital music loops readily available and he found a way to create his "own" melodies and harmonies note by note - he even creates his own percussions - AND He Reads Wav Files! Like Prince, Keenan produces and composes his own works on his own in-home recording studio and does his own mastering. Which means he can also make his own modifications to his own originals to suit specific applications i.e. Movies, Video Games, Commercials, adding vocals, etc. As a matter of fact, being the particular artist that he is, he actually prefers to do his own modifications. Keenan has also produced several "original songs" with Live Guitar and Live Vocals collaborating with several artists such as Richard Fammaree.
PUBLISHED WORKS: In addition to his self-published cds, Keenan has been featured on two CDs: the song "New Insomnia" is on the "RAW 1" (Recorded Art Words, 2004, Chicago, Illinois) and Keenan's song "Decent" is on "Canadian American Hot Summer Singles" 2004 by Canadian American Records, and has 10 cds to date.
GENRES: Keenan likes Hip Hop, Rap, Dance, Techno, RAVE and House and his instrumentals combine elements of them all. He likes Nelly, DJ Bam Bam, and Usher, but his sounds appeals to a younger audience and the older audiences alike. Older audiences that have an "ear" for Jazz instrumentals and/or "just" instrumentals especially like Keenan's music.
PERFORMING: Keenan has appeared on TV three times now, and has performed at the Pierogi Festin Whiting, Indiana. He performs once a month at Ursuline's Kitchen which is an intimate classy restuarant setting, with a very up-close audience. He performs several times a month.
