Guaranteed to make you smile - and bring back memories of cowboy heroes like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry - KG & The Ranger’s second album, released in 1997, has a great selection of classic songs from the Silver Screen cowboys. It includes harmony yodeling, harmonica and a terrific Texas-style fiddle player, Karen Howell, backing them up.
On a mission to keep classic cowboy music alive, this talented husband and wife duo have been bringing the Old West to their Midwest home in Wisconsin since 1989. Three times “Harmony Yodeling Champions” (Western Music Association, 1999, 2002, 2005), they have also won numerous other awards for their harmony singing and excellent showmanship. They have appeared at cowboy events from California to Florida. National performances have included Silver Dollar City (Branson); Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival at Melody Ranch; Ozarks Folk Center; National Festival of the West (Phoenix); Wild West Arts Club (Las Vegas). They have shared the stage with many western music greats like Roy Rogers, Jr. and Rex Allen, Jr., and have opened for the Sons of the San Joaquin, Riders In The Sky, Wylie and the Wild West, Johnny Western, Don Edwards, Waddie Mitchell and Michael Martin Murphey.
KG remembers watching every cowboy show on TV in the 50's, with cowboy heroes from Annie Oakley to Paladin. She never dreamed that she would someday be friends with Johnny Western, the author of the theme song for "Have Gun Will Travel". Or, even better, that she and her husband would share the stage with Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and the Sons of the Pioneers (at their reunion concert in 1994).
Over the last 17 years, their love of cowboy music has taken KG and Ranger Rick on many adventures. Starting with 3 shows their first year, they now perform full time with at least 150 shows a year. In 2000, Rick quit his "other" job (as Director of Lending at a credit union), and they went full gallop into performing.
Here's what Ranger Doug, from the Riders In The Sky, has to say: "KG & The Ranger sing with charm and style, they yodel spectacularly, choose great material with unerring taste, and write fine new songs as well. Their growing and continuing success is well deserved."

Riding the Range With You
author: Everett Mobley
The album has a good variety of both well-known and lesser-known (but GOOD) cowboy songs. I especially like \"I\'ve Just Got to be a Cowboy\". This song is the very essence of America\'s \"cowboy-crazy\" years.
The two-part harmony of K.G. and the Ranger is better than the four-part harmony of many a bigger group.
If you like songs of the Great American West, you will like this album.
