"An album that that gets more amazing every time you listen to it. Like "Pet Sounds" and Beck's "Odelay" rich with secrets and surprises one can uncover for years..."
- Nick Geidner music review from Youngstownscene.com
"It is a wonderous journey through the sonic universe touching on everything from americana, old school hip-hop, blues, folk, country, rock, and Khaled. And I love it."
- Kevin Povec music review
"Sitting on the wall that serves as his stage near the entrance of The Mocha House in Boardman, Khaled Tabbara, junior, telecommunication, has a look that matches his sound.
His navy blue stocking cap almost completely covers his newly bleached hair. His button down shirt and khakis are interrupted by his oversized belt buckle that reads "country."
He is a mix of different styles, influenced by many different sources, and his music is reflective of this."
-C. Vanoverbek live show review in "The Jambar" Youngstown, OH

Music by Khaled and his brother Rached
They are the only musicians on the album with each one playing a wide variety of instruments.
KHALED: Lyrics, vocals, guitars, piano, various keyboards, various organs, bass, sampler, harmonica, congas, percussion, violin, turntables, coughs, meticulously tuned water glasses in E minor on Ooglie Booglie (track 5), and programming beats and samples,
RACHED: Mandolin, bass, accordian, congas, rototoms, large african djembe (drum),little green propellor whistle, various other percussion, and programming beats samples ect.
Khaled's Music is an amazing blend of genres with the touching and witty lyrics. The first track on the CD (The SLG) is a Bluegrass style instrumental with mandolin and guitar establishing an understanding that this cd will be taking bold and unexpected chances. Some of the songs are experimental of traditional music and modern day recording techniques. With Songs like "Ooglie Booglie" and "Trend" the samples blend seemlessly with the folk guitar riffs and 70's style wah-organs.
In "Take your Love Away", Khaled exposes his inner most vunrable soul to the listener while singing a melody so simple and melodic it floats through your head for days. Songs like "Candleman" and "Better Off" (although very different musically) seem to be strange and experimental. But as the songs move on they reveal themselves as catchy crowd pleasers with delightful hooks and concepts of honesty and sensetivity that everyone can relate to.
This ferociously original album is moving and emotionally charged but never takes itself to seriously. The daring musical and recording choices make "KHALED - the bright blues" an album rooted in a rich musical past but years ahead of its time.

Fantastic.

If music was religion, these songs would be ten of the most original, freedom-embracing souls to emerge from Heaven. Kinda makes you want to ignore Icarus and try to reach the sun anyway. (In other words, DEFINITELY check it out!)

Super Khaled Strikes Again

The Bright Blues is the one CD that I've bought in the past year that I haven't listened to once and set to collect dust. It's so great to hear something that's not manufactured by some record company guru.
