This debut album is an epic journey into humanity, and its dark eventual downfall. Well crafted guitar oriented songs that crush and empower, destroy and inspire. This is a marvelous independent release from an upstart Canadian metal band.

Album Notes

Hello! I’m Joshua Matthews, guitarist and vocalist for Khapra. I figured I’d write down a few things and let out a little information about the band since we are brand new, right out of the box!!

Khapra was conceived in the summer of 2007 when band members Jordan, Dustin and I decided to record an album. We had flown under the banner of “MIDIS” for three years approximately and knew that if we were going to undergo this huge process of releasing an album that we would want to do so under a name we were proud of… and a name that suited the new material we were writing.

Under the name “MIDIS” we released a quick single of a song called “Bitten” as well as other good but somewhat less impressive songs. Issues within the private lives of certain members, and the growth of ourselves as individuals pushed all of us to write material that would change our point of view on what we were trying to accomplish as a band, and as musicians ourselves. We are very proud of what we have accomplished so far, but are far from done at this point!

We recorded our album this summer/fall. Half was recorded in Canada, with our good friend Derek Pendree in his personal studio, and the other half was recorded with our other good friend Lance Dean, in Mesa Arizona, USA. The album is entitled “The Day of the Digger Wasp” and features some really kick ass material that I hope you all enjoy! The fantastic artwork was done by Mattias Noren, a very talented artist that I am proud to have worked with.

We are beginners playing in a cage with all the big dogs. We are not a band who is out there to re-invent or re-introduce, nor are we wanting to re-do what has already been done. We simply are playing what we enjoy playing, and metal is exactly that... and we realize how hard it is to play this genre of music and remain original in doing so and we have a huge amount of respect for our peers and to the bands that are ahead of us and have influenced us along the way. But the biggest thing to keep in mind however, is that we are just getting started! So with that being said, I guess it would be polite to welcome you to our band. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Peace, Sex and Metal!

-Joshua Matthews
