Album Notes

Welcome to the experience that is...The Kharmacists.

Each live manic or personally intimate meeting with this foursome from the Philadelphia area means a journey among the spirits of primal and cerebral...raucous and romantic...gutteral and glorified.

The eclectic blend of blues, rock, and alternative sounds begs the question...how well can you see with your eyes closed? The answer is your experience.

The Kharmacists is an ongoing musical collaboration....

The foursome joined forces as the musical core of The Original Tough Luck Band...performing extensively throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Distance and interests called each to other directions...Frank Weiss to the rhythm and blues band Live Bait...Doug Placek and John Bishop to the acoustic rock trio Triple Play...and Mark Furman to the electric blues/funk power trio The Mark Furman Band. (Though Doug, Frank, and John have all performed with The Mark Furman Band in a variety of live and studio settings.) The desire to reform the "core" and create uniquely original music has brought them back together...in the guise of The Kharmacists.

The foursome's latest release, first as The Kharmacists, is "Schizophonic"...an eclectic blend of original music which reconnects them to their electric blues roots while exploring sonic influences and horizons.

REVIEWS

a fun album
author: Mason Rourman
It is obvious from listening to this album that this quartet is really enjoying what they're doing in each song. Some of the music is very traditional blues/funk (Enshrine Me, Sounds Familiar - and the nice little wink and nod with Here We Go Again...); however, they really do take the time out to show breadth of style (Balance, Forever in Twilight, Angel). Definitely worth the purchase! Thanks, Kharmacists!
