An exceptionally gifted artist, combining an angelic voice with inspired guitar, piano and synthesizer accompaniments, Kristin Hoffmann offers the unique gift of an open heart & soaring spirit through her music. Both her memorable, inspired live performances and recordings entice the listener into deeply emotional and soul-searching journeys.

Kristin’s background ranges from classical training at The Juilliard School of Music to opening as a solo fold/pop singer for groups as diversified as The Wallflowers (Bob Dylan’s son Jacob), Brandi Carlile, Richie Havens, Tina Dico, Howie Day, and Feist. She combines the very best of several musical traditions into a voice and message that are all her own. Her repertoire includes passionate love songs in the folk and pop music tradition, touching ballads on life’s passages, and eerily beautiful “toning” pieces meant to open the audience’s spiritual heart.

Kristin began playing piano and writing her own songs as early as four years of age. She spent her teenage years absorbed in piano, guitar and classical voice training. Accepted at internationally famous Juilliard School of Music’s pre-college program, she spent several years studying opera, training her voice to the unusual scope and range of expression it demonstrates today. “Opera training really molded my voice. Once you study classical voice you can go anywhere with it,” says Kristin, who has also been inspired by popular artists like Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead and Sigur Ros. Kristin left strictly classical music behind when she realized she could marry the two traditions of classical and contemporary, creating her own lyrics and musical accompaniments. “I get so much joy out of creating my own music and having it touch people. It is an unmatchable feeling.”

A prolific songwriter, Kristin has created 4 CDs to date: Spring Comes, Divided Heart, Real, and her latest creation SOL~AUM (Songs of Light). Previously signed to Capitol Records and later to Interscope Records, Kristin has decided to self release her latest CD under her private Indie label Starr Records, utilizing the power of the internet and her loyal fan base.

A featured performer at Caffe Vivaldi in Manhattan’s West Village, Kristin regularly sings to packed audiences at this venue and others on the East Coast. Her songs have been played on numerous TV shows, including Dawson’s Creek, Palmetto Pointe, The Young and the Restless, as well as several short films. She continues with a constant outflow of newly inspired songs and is currently working on a new CD entitled “The Waking” (a metaphysical journey of a soul’s path to self realization) with Emmy award-winning producer/composer Michael Whalen.

Of her music, Kristin says, “I hope to stimulate my listeners to go deeper within themselves, to places they may be reluctant to go. I have realized that connecting to people’s hearts and souls by creating music is my contribution to the World.”
