Album Notes

The 3rd release from The Kickbacks is "Blindside View". Arguably their best and most focused effort yet, the band have recorded a lush, roots pop/rock record this time out. Clever, melodic songwriting, twangin' guitars, big vocal harmonies and even some horns on a few tracks.

Check out the songs "Spotlight Hits You", "Goin' The Mile", "Banged Up, Black and Blue" and "He Was A Fire".

Some Reviews:

MilesOfMusic.com - October 2002
"From out of Boston, The Kickbacks kick out a tight, and well produced, roots-rock sound that alternates punchy and jangly, is full of hooks and varying in mood. At times sounding more like they've been bred from the late eighties Minneapolis scene (Soul Asylum, Replacements, etc.), they also have a similar feel as contemporaries Honeydogs and Gingersol. Their overall sound has "Guts and Soul" (to borrow from a song title)."

Metronome Magazine - October 2002
"This is one of the finest albums I've heard in some time from a Boston act. Lush arrangements, twangin' guitars, pristine vocal harmonies and stellar songwriting rate The Kickbacks one of the best bands of 2002. Outstanding!"

FreightTrainBoogie.com - October 2002
"Clever, Melodic Songwriting."

See feedback for Motel Stars and Even The Blues. I hope these guys make it over to the UK soon. They deserve much wider recognition. What a refreshing contrast to various navel-gazing Brit bands.

This is a record that gives you just that sunny fellin' you need. Good songs with some rootsy influence and strong songwriting from Tad Overbaugh and his friends. Maybe see you guys some time in Amsterdam and Holland for some shows

Early Replacements & Old '97's-esque

What a great record! No filler in this record at all. It really sounds like the Replacements & the Old '97's got smashed together. Can't wait til the next one.

It's full of stars!

Wow. That sums it up. BSV is definately worth the risk of online credit theft. The Kickbacks prove their musical maturity with their latest release. When in Boston do what the Bostonians do and support this great local (soon to be national) band.
