Album Notes

What would you do if you had three and a half minutes to explain yourself? Could you capture the hearts and imaginations of the world in three chords or less? East San Francisco Bay Area band Kid Moe prides themselves on doing just that.
This East Bay Area pop-rock band, formed in early 2001, represents the true do-it-yourself spirit of independent artists. Their latest release, "Hella OK" (2005) features all recording, production, and artwork by Kid Moe. The album was financed through sales of Kid Moe's 2004 release, "For Governor" and the cash prize Kid Moe received in June 2004 for their victory at the Santa Ana Battle of the Bands. Not only does Kid Moe work independently in the stuido, they also run (with the help of Kevin Ahmadi) a small production company, Smiling Poliely Presents, that specializes in helping other local bands and musicians through services like: show production, promotion, web design, graphic design, and live sound.
Kid Moe is Vincent Lay (23, guitar/vocals), Arom Gaang (21, bass/vocals), Casey Saran (19, guitar), and Anna Kremenliev (20, drums). Since summer 2004, this line-up of Kid Moe has performed in cities across the state of California, ranging from their hometown of Concord, out to Oakland, up to Sonoma and even down to Southern California.
Tony Hicks, music journalist of the Contra Costa Times, described Kid Moe as, "Better-than-solid Weezer-like power pop." Kid Moe's sound has also been compared to that of Green Day and Saves the Day. Although the band members cite a wide variety of individual musical influences, Kid Moe can all agree that bands like Weezer, Journey, and The Beatles have had a large impact on the creation and development of Kid Moe's melodic, "sing-a-long" music.
With a band name borrowed from an old boxing nickname of Moe the Bartender in The Simpsons, Kid Moe tries hard to maintain a sense of humor and a light heart as they work their way up, never forgetting their friends and families, and all the reasons why they picked up instruments in the first place.

These tracks are just as good on a CD as they were when I saw Kid Moe play them live at the Santa Ana Battle of the Bands. They did a great job.

This is the one CD that I constantly listen to. It is also the one CD that I like ever single song on it. Kid Moe is one of the greatest bands I have ever heard of and I hope they make it big time!
