ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Native from Lima, Peru Kiki Sanchez was born into a musical atmosphere. He began his formal education in Peru with Coco Macedo and Edermi Chavez. He became a well-rounded musician by playing with La Peru Salsa All-Stars, Orquesta Majestic (led by his father, Maximo Sanchez) and Anibal Lopez’, La Unica. These experiences were the initial building blocks to his future abroad.

He journeyed to the US, settled in Miami, where he played and studied with Jazz legends such as Jim Gasior, Israel Lopez (Cachao), Mike Gerber, Mike Orta, and Eddie Barzola, who took Kiki Sanchez under their wings. Additionally, he polished his classical Pianos techniques with Diana Molinari and Cassandra Hanna at Miami Dade College and Leonid Treer at Florida Atlantic University.

Furthermore, Kiki Sanchez participated as a musician, arranger and was involved in pre-productions on the album, "Blown Away", which featured Arturo Sandoval and Frankie Marcos and was nominated in 2005 for a Grammy for Best Instrumental Album. Also, he co-produced, performed and arranged for the album, "La Onda Latina", in conjunction with Frankie Marcos & Clouds, which was nominated also in 2005 for Best Traditional Tropical Album. Moreover, Kiki has worked on numerous projects with Grammy winning producer, Glen Kolotkin, who is known for his work with many great musicians including Carlos Santana on the album, “Supernatural.”

Kiki’s second CD is a fusion of Peruvian-folkloric rhythms with modern jazz melodies. The Afro-Peruvian singer Susana Baca will be one of the invited guests. He just released an instructional DVD titled “THE REAL LATIN PIANO AND INTRO TO AFRO-PERUVIAN RHYTHMS, VOL.1.” This DVD will be showcased in all libraries throughout the United States. Currently, his educational works are being distributed world wide through ADG Productions.

Finally, Kiki Sanchez is honored to receive the CASIO, Japan endorsement for America. Kiki will showcase all of Casio’s pianos and keyboards across The US and Latin America exclusively.
