I thought it would be very difficult for The Kimberly Trip to match the quality of their last offering "Catastrophic Behavior" but they have accomplished just that with "You'll Get Nothing...and LIKE It! This latest CD offers up the same high energy head-bobbing retro punk/pop sound with skillfull songwriting, solid musicianship and the ever-soaring expressive to-die-for voice of Kimberlina. The ever-present sense of fun, humor & passison along with a celebration of the individualist spirit found in their previous work is still here in such songs as "Geek Grrrl", "Red Riding Hood", "Unfunny" and the hillarious "Trouble Again". There is, however, an extra maturity & style to such songs as "The Pretty Girls", "Fairytale Life", "Paper Boy" & the haunting beauty of "Snowflake". The edgy sarcasm of past works has been tempered with a softer self-irony found in "Not Quite Right In The Head" & "Lost In The Mail". This is a collection that will thrill The Trip's hard-core fans while also appealing to those not yet converted. Great going, TRIP!

I can't add much to the other reviews. Another great album by a band that's one of the most impressive ones now IMO. Power pop with attitude, wit (whatever happened to THAT?!) and catchy style. If you like The Waitresses/Bangles/They Might Be Giants//Blondie/Uncle Bonsai/Voice of the Beehive/Eddie from Ohio/even clever Broadway lyrics or just plain pop fun-- with some serious & thoughtful edges too-- get this album. Oh, & Kimberlina is a GREAT singer!

I have a strong sense that I've been here before. It seems like every 6 months I'm writing a review for a new Kimberly Trip disc! These guys (and girls) are about as prolific as you can get, and frankly I don't know how it is possible to release so much new music so often that is so damn good! Like their previous work, there is a healthy dose of sarcasm and self-depricating humor to the lyrics and a fun, energetic soundscape that has my head bobbin' on the first listen. What is different about this collection of songs is the level of interactive musicianship and the depth to the layers in the songs. The gorgeous voice of Kimberlina still floats above Jeffry Wynne Prince's blazing new-millenia guitar heroics, but now they are augmented by a 3 piece rhythm section that just KICKS! The band lineup hasn't changed, they just seem to have found how to play together in the studio. This isn't to say that there previous studio albums are lacking, but it is obvious after recording their live album, that this CD benefitted from that experience. The songwriting has evolved to showcase this new-found band-sound, as well. Highlights include the "So-catchy-if-it-isn't-a-radio-smash, I'll kill-myself" tune called 'Trouble Again', the rockin' anthem against anorexia 'The Pretty Girls', and my pick for "ballad-of-the-decade", 'Snowflake'. This is top notch stuff. I don't know how long The Kimberly Trip can stay a secret.

I have been waiting for this CD for so long (after I Memorised all the rest), and now that it's here all I can say is: WOW! the only song missing to make it a true masterpiece is "Geek School". I loved the lyrics and felt so identified with each song! Many thanks to 'the Kimberly Trip' and may they continue to make great music!
