I heard this song in the perfect test environment...a friend's car! The mixing was brilliant as I heard drums move from speaker to speaker. The clever lyrics employed the word 'frenemy' ...Kudos! During one point in the song, we hear Kimberlina make an utterance of relief, (expertly and subtlety-mixed in), which ties into the story of the song.
Over all as this band rocks-through time, just like Kimberlina, (who just keeps getting hotter and hotter), they keep getting better and BETTER! I am excited that The Kimberly Trip will be releasing many more singles this year and this musician's hope is that by Christmas, we'll all have the opportunity to buy all of them as a DOUBLE ALBUM so that by New Years Eve, I can be rockin' away the seconds to midnight with each face-melting song!!

AWESOME AS USUAL

If you like ironic, snarky, 80's pop, you're in the right place. If you're an acerbic Gen X like me, then you shouldn't be reading this, you should be CHECKING OUT with this song in your CART. As usual, the catchy lyrics and the high-powered guitar/drum/bass backup make for an excellent combination. I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of the album.

retro and hip...freakin' awesome song!

I was originally disappointed that this turned out to be a single instead of an entire album...but I read encouraging news on the band's Twitter that they have a TON of singles coming out this year...so even though there won't be a physical disc, we will have a bunch of new stuff from this groundbreaking act.
That said, this is a fine lead-off single for this project. Quirky, fun, memorable, and a vocal delivery that has power and grace in equal measure. I felt every emotion she must have been going through and found myself LONGING for her to win in the end, as I hung on every perfect lyric.
In just over 3 minutes, they tell a beautifully poignant and funny novella that keeps my interest like a good book or movie, but with a certain soundscape that captures the New Wave of the past and puts it solidly in the sound of 2011. I can't WAIT for more songs!
