notes
"Red 14" by Kimi Hayes Band, is the fourth release from this midwest grrrrlll rocker. This CD, is by far, their most energetic and soulful release to date.
Red 14 is an all-original compilation of songs written in the past year by Kimi Hayes and Mike Aquino, guitarist, and Paula Marr, Bassist. The thunderously solid rhythms are hammered out by drummer Hilary Jones. Jimmy Riley's production (www.jimmyriley.com)is slick and smooth and real, combining drum loops and effects with rootsy/rockin' guitars, harmonica, mando, and even cello. The combination of modern and classic blends perfectly on Red 14.
"Watered Down Whiskey", track #1, was mixed by Cory Churko, of C Squared Productions. He's worked with such artists as Michelle Branch, Avril,Faith Hill...to name a few. "Watered Down Whiskey" has a rockin' country flavor that has geniune "cross-over" appeal.
"Red 14", #3 track, is a tongue-n-cheek tune about riverboat gambling, and specifically roulette. "I even pawned my VCR" Sacastic, funny, and rockin, anyone who's ever had the "itch" will enjoy this tune.
"You Move Me" #9 track, is a beautiful tune about finding refuge and peace in the arms of a loved one...."When everything has lost it's glow". This track is full of lush guitars, strong melodies, and groovin' rhythms.
"Do You Believe" #12 track is the most stark in arrangements; guitar/vocal/cello. "Is this the promisedland?"...."Oh, say can you see, right outside your front door..." a reflection of our tough political/social times. "Do you believe?"

author: RandallEvery once in a while a disc comes along that changes your life. Red 14 is that for me. The writing is jovial yet reflective and at times profound. Production is top notch pro (Jimmy Riley) and the vocals are crisp and sincere. Can't wait for the next disc. Randall
Good Classic American Rock
author: FunkyResAbsolutely awesome album - in the classin jazz/blues style of good old classic Rock before pop polluted it. Very flexible voice on this album, akin to Janis Joplin and Pat Benatar. A must have if you crave for Rock the way it is suppose to be.
Kimi and her band Rock!!

Another great CD by Kimi and group!!
author: LynetteKimi keeps on surprising me with her growth in her music. She's been great all along and keeps getting better. This album has fun, deep, and even socially conscious songs on it and a good variety of style from hard rocking to country-ish songs. Keep them coming, Kimi... it's great!!
