Album Notes

Kim Matthews wants his music to sneak up on people. The Midland, Pa. man uses jazzy drumbeats and alluring bass lines that will get the listeners' toes a-tapping before they even notice his gospel lyrics. Matthews, 46, a husband and father of 4, learned his musical chops in Pittsburgh area clubs, playing bass guitar for several rhythm and blues and jazz bands including Sapphire, Clarence Grant Orchestra, and Full Force just to name a few. An entrepreneur of sorts, Kim plays a variety of instruments and has a distinct mellow voice which at times in this album, exhibits tremendous power. A born again Christian, Matthews hopes to spread the word of how good GOD is and the overwhelming effect GOD has had and continues to have in his life. "If this album gets just one person to think about including Jesus in his or her life, then I know I'm on the right track. Street sounds, subtle saxophone and a breezy, Latino percussion beat grace "LIFELINE'S instrumental leadoff track. A pure funk groove punctuates the title track, enhancing the accessibility of Matthews' uncomplicated, God-is-good lyrics. Songs like "Call on Jesus" and "Happy 2 Be Saved" further drive home the uplifting message. With plans already underway, Kim states that a small tour is in the making. Matthews says that he will definitely be expressing this music in local churches late spring, early fall before the tour kicks off. The group of guys playing with him "live" has the same vigor and drive to serve the Lord through this very unique music style. "We are definitely going to be kicking it hard!!!!! When asked, what's next? Kim simply states; "I've got a lot of music in my head, so trust me, you'll be hearing a lot from me in the not so distant future." "BE BLESSED"

the music sorta has you groovin in a jazzy way, then the lyrics grab ya and tells the whole story of this artist's relationship with God. It's unique in that it doesn't seem to follow the normal pattern of today's contemporary gospel. Very good work. I hope to hear more from this artist.
