One of the best Americana CD's of the past year.

Delivering on the promise showed in her early live performances as well as her self-produced demo E.P., Kim Townsend has finally released her first full-length CD Wayworn Traveler. Almost every one of the 14 songs featured here in a masterpiece. There are a wide variety of musical forms and songs within these 14. There is Traditional (Wayworn Traveler), Country (It's In There), Humor (Birthday Suit, Old Lady Fitzhugh, Chat Room), and Latin (El Mercado), just to name a few. This CD also features one of my favorite songs from Kim, Broken-Hearted, which was featured on her demo CD but this time she has added a cello to wonderful effect. With this CD I feel that she joins the ranks of other great female singer/songwriters such as Dar Williams, Kim Richey, and Tish Hinojosa. Be sure you check her out----Nicole Blizzard/Freelance Writer for TechnoDyke

Very original, genuine and... entertaining as hell!
author: Dinah Urell --- HIPFISH Astoria, OR
Townsend sings songs about her Texas-farmer-traditional roots, grandmas and great-grandmas. She sings very openheartedly about leaving them behind and beginning new traditions, like traveling and writing songs. She also sings about cross-dressing, going naked, chat rooms, and even chili fetishes. And, yes, there is the occasional lovesick/lovesane ballad. But you never quite know if she's going to sing you a sentimental lament, a serious message song, or sneak-off a quirky, country do-wop, risque little number. She does them all with comfortable aplomb. This must be what makes Kim Townsend very original, genuine and... entertaining as hell!

Green Chile Love at First Listen
author: JC Shepard
First heard singer-Songwriter Kim Townsend when she played KRFC's Live@Lunch and a couple shows along Colorado's front range. Kim calls Seattle home now, but this West Texas native has lived in more places than Hank Snow could fit in a song (I've been everywhere, man, I've been everywhere...).
Her self-released debut disc is Wayworn Traveler, after the traditional title track that features a classic acapella recording of her great-grandfather. He and his draft horses grace the cover as well and set the down-to-eath tone of this collection, from humorous (Brithday Suit, Chat Rooms) to poignent to Borderlands Americana (El Mercado).
My favorite (or at least most delicious) is Kim's Green Chile Love Song.
yummmmm.
