Album Notes

Kim Thompsett is a musician and songwriter living and working in the South East of England. She plays guitar, flute, native American flute and zither. Her songs have an escapist quality which evokes the England of old with hints of Celtic, medieval and the classic folk artists of the '60's and 70's.

" honest, most magickal and real, a treasure indeed "

*VERY IMPORTANT* - PLEASE CLICK ON THE BROADBAND BUTTON TO HEAR THESE SONGS. Unfortunately where they are super-compressed and put into mono for dial-up for those in the Outer Hebrides (this is the default i.e. when you click by individual tracks) it has made them sound very strange - like they were recorded underwater or in a big hall with a tiny PA! PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS NOT WHAT THE DOWNLOAD WILL SOUND LIKE. Thanks for listening!

"I am very impressed. Beautiful voice and really nice arrangements. I have strong connections with the folk world and this is one of the best things I have heard recently."
Andy Hemsley, Journalist

The album "Songs from the Uglee Meadow" is inspired by a serene and beautiful place in East Sussex called the Uglee Meadow. With the involvement of musicians such as Will Summers from Circulus on crumhorns, recorders and other blowy things and Philip Martin (alias Drohne) on hurdy gurdy and pipes. Songs inspired by quiet woods, rushing streams, misty meadows, lonely moors and dancing fires imbued with an air of timelessness.

"very easy on the ear. Vocals, song content and variations of styles of songs are good. Most of all, the 'vibe' ..... is lovely." Marianne Segal, Jade

"Love the flow of it all. Kitty's Angel, amazing!"
Michael Tyack, Circulus

'She sings of birds and they of her'

She sits beneath the tree to sing
To bring the very Nature in
To my hearts sorrow saddened plight
Does come a warmth a pure delight
To soothe the frown of turmoil mind
And in those moments all is kind
With pure her voice and truth her smile
Sweet honesty of Nature wild.

"I have always had a fascination for the fairytale, the romantic, the undiscovered and I find it almost impossible to stick to the path when out walking in the woods. I wrote a poem at the age of 9 which my mother got published in the local paper and looking back even then I was already tiptoeing my way into special magical places and finding the sight of bluebells in a lush English woodland wonderfully inspirational..... REVIEWS

Kim Thompsett
author: Charles Schneider
Kim Thompsett's Songs from the Uglee Meadow is a moss-covered gemstone found in an ancient Faerie vault. Timeless songs, a voice like a glass bell reflecting an untouched mountain river, magic music captured from the luminous woods. Ultimate soundtrack for olde-world courtships, invocations of forest deities, dancing, putting a child to sleep - or just feeling in touch with the universe. I feel so lucky to have found Kim Thompsett's work. The first album's great musicianship transcends and defies all genre & pagan-folk presumptions; becoming an exciting and fresh body of music that will last forever.
