Since 1993, KINDER ATOM have been one of few
groups in the electronic music scene defining
their own unique sound within many spectrums.
Kinder Atom are pleased to present their 4th full length
album, released on the band’s own nice+smooth
record label.
SOFT HAND FEEL, is a CD+DVD double-disc set,
ranging in styles from electro pop and jazzy deep
house to dub and ambient downtempo breaks.
The free DVD included in the digipak features seven
different music videos by various Toronto film
directors. These visiual interpretations of Kinder Atom’s
music embrace nature inspired, layered abstract imagery
and colours.
The DVD-ROM portion of the disc includes
mp3 portable / iPod ready files of the entire album, as
well as four exclusive bonus remixes. The double digipak
package comes housed in an outer box sleeve.
The stand out vocal track on the album, Bring the
Herbs, is a groovy smoked out chiller, featuring the
sweet sounds of Jamaica via London reggae music
star, Musical Sniper (Oraccabesa Records). The
uptempo and more dancefloor friendly remix of Bring
the Herbs is included on the bonus DVD. Further
remixes of the track have been recorded by Q-Burns Abstract Message and will be released on an upcoming 12” e.p.
Other musical highlights include the album mix of
Eagle Sprouts, recently released on 12” to fantastic
reviews; Sangria, a sunny, deep house tune with solid
Rhodes riffs; the straight-up house-dub, Japan Cakes;
the torn breaks of Broken Bedsprings and a myriad of
chilled dubby tunes including Bubbles and Car Audio.
The title track Soft Hand Feel, is a warped ten minutes
of phased trance-inducing tribal rhythms featuring
chants and textures from Newcastle’s infamous ambient
master Rapoon (Robin Story aka Zoviet France).
Kinder Atom’s music has been embraced worldwide
by club and radio DJ’s since their first release in 1996,
and has been heavily featured in film, radio and television.
Formerly label-mates with the likes of Kraftwerk,
System 7 and Future Sound Of London, this release will
mark the first truly independent album from these
veteran players in the electronic music scene on their
own nice+smooth label.
The nice+smooth discography consists of over 30 CD
and vinyl releases by a number of top electronic artists,
including Roy Davis Jr., Stéphane Vera / Teknostep,
DJ Shine, Jordan Fields, Mossyrock and SolaZul.
