Album Notes

"Diverse, energetic, exotic..."

"Believe Like A Child", the debut CD from Kindred Nation, is a faith-filled musical excursion through many cultures and styles. From the Santana-ish title cut to the African sounds of "Mission Field"; from the jazz ballad "Little Things" to the Middle Eastern influences of "Shaba Hu"; from the infectious reggae feel of "One Cross", the intimate worship of "You Comfort Me", to the joyful Black Gospel sound of "Thank You", Kindred Nation utilizes a wide variety of flavors to fulfill its mission statement: "Crossing racial, denominational, and generational boundaries with diverse musical styles and a message of reconciliation."

Kindred Nation is based in the metro Detroit area. The group's name is taken from Revelation 5:9, which describes every kindred, every nation before the throne of God. This theme seems an appropriate description of their diverse blend of musical styles.

Members of Kindred Nation have shared the stage with numerous national acts. Assembled together they are being described as one of the most unique Christian bands ever to hit Detroit.

Kindred Nation is:

Jackson Baugh: drums, djembe, doumbec, congas, percussion, vocals
Carl Behrendt: bass guitar, vocals
Kevin Casteel: keyboards, vocals
Scarlett Moore: lead vocals
Joe Palmer: electric and acoustic guitars, trumpet, wooden flute, vocals

Comments from others:

"Kindred Nation has a new, fresh sound; nothing like the redundant "cookie-cutter" fare many associate with today's radio rotation. In fact, I was reminded several times during their concert of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones [a popular contemporary jazz / world fusion group]. Kindred Nation has a nice, warm jazz vibe going on that draws you in. Their project 'Believe Like A Child' has made it from my bookcase stack to my car. That is my test of a good CD. If it makes it to my car, it's good music. It's well worth your while to check this band out!" (Rhonda Hanson, Nashville Recording Artist)

"I'm listening to your CD right now... very, very good. I'm impressed with everything... from the CD jacket, artwork & originality, to the music, to the quality of the recording, to the diversity in your music, to the lyrics, to the expert musicians, to the vocalist. It's very good -- you should be very proud." (Amy Timbers, Michigan Recording Artist)
