Album Notes

fact

time: 2005. place: los angeles. newly formed and carrying a brand spankin' new debut album, the kind strangers is led by singer songwriter producer multi-instrumentalist geoff bock. armed with an armada of ideas, this is the sound of trying everything and anything in order to drag out and let go of all the irrational thoughts that keep us up at night. this is the sound of making peace and hoping there is a light that truly never goes out. the kind strangers is personal music for the globe. dense, different, deep.

crawling out of five year hiatus from writing and recording his take on what a singer/songwriter could be, a five year period of time that saw gb twist and trash his own musical formulas by scoring several experimental short films in l.a., the kind strangers finds gb returning, 2K style, rejuvenated by a new sound. inspired by true events. inspired. amazing what the combination of rocky relationships, a keyboard, some beats, and something to say can produce (don't forget guitars, the boy plays GUITAR, as well, folks...). what it produces is tks' debut album "still building."

fine and dandy. the history of complete strangers, the importance of which is moot in comparison to the music. tks could be martian billionaires with superpowers and a fortress somewhere near the south pole for all it matters. what matters is the songs. do they sound good? your call. have at it.

the kind strangers and "still building" are simply the sounds of someone pressing record and letting it all go. 2005 will see tks spreading that sound in every way imaginable. look for strangers in your town. on your computer. in your pods. in your car. in the pages you flip. look around. you'll find us. and it's okay, you can talk to strangers, the kind ones anyway.

stay kind. be strange.

tks 2005

This has to be one of the best albums I've found this year. Brock's vocals are at times haunting and driven. Give the sample tracks a listen... you won't regret adding this outstanding album to your music library.

Innovative, sexy, haunting, get on your boogie shoes

Why can't there be 6 stars?? This CD is the most original, beautiful, haunting and SEXY music I have heard since Prince circa the late 70's early 80's. Bock's songs will fill up your brain and haunt you like an 8 track tape, looping through your brain causing you to dance unwillingly and desire chocolate and seratonin cocktails. Is this a new kind of music? I've never heard anything quite like it before yet it is somehow familiar and entirely enticing. It makes me want to get down and dangerous...
