Jessica King was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia. She borrowed a neighbor's guitar at the age of twelve, and by the end of the day, she could play Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Come On Come On" CD in its entirety. At 15, Jessica started performing around Atlanta and four years later was awarded runner-up in the Lilith Fair Talent Search.
