Album Notes

Onyx "King Sandman" Johnson was born September 18 1981 In Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began writing lyrics at the age of 11 and started recording in studios at age 13. At age 14, Sandman began producing his own instrumentals, playing by ear. He continued to master his craft all through high school and released his first full-length cd entitled "King of Hallucination" as a senior at age 17. This album gained him recognition from all of his neighborhood peers and he became known as the first rapper to bring the style of tongue-twisting to Minnesota.

At age 18, Sandman Joined with an Independent record label called Lifestyle Records and 1 year later released his second album entitled "No Secrets, No Lies" which gained him national recognition as well as sales over-seas. He collaborated with National recording artists such as DJ Qwik, Suga Free, and the late Mausberg. No Secrets, No Lies also featured Slink Capone from Too Short Records as well as many talented local Minnesota rappers.

After the release of his second album, Sandman went to persue his education in audio engineering and production at The Institute of Production and Recording (IPR). There, he earned his official certification as a Protools operator, which is the number 1 digital audio recording program used in the music industry today. He also earned his diploma in audio prduction and engineering with high skills in mixing and mastering.

Since the last release, Sandman has been constantly recording songs and has accumulated over 50 songs that are Mixed, Mastered, and ready for the public. He continues to work on his own material as well as engineering and producing for other local and national artists. He has now gained recognition as a skilled recording and mixing engineer.
