I just happened to see the UPC symbol cover on the "new artists" page, and gave the sample songs a listen. Sounded like there was potential there, so what the hell? I went ahead and added the Kingstreet album to my cart. A couple days later when the cds showed up, I slid Kingstreet into my cd player and was very, very pleasantly suprised. The band is very tight, they offer a listener friendly album that keeps me working happily through the day.

Kingstreet's latest runs the gamut of human emotion.

In this 80s regurgitating era where bands are defined just as much for their skinny neckties and black eyeliner as they are for their Casio laden beats and pout riddled lyrics, We Can Be Bought is a cohesive alt-rock album made for keg stands, barbeques and pleasure, ala The All-American Rejects and early Offspring. Simmer down frat boy, that doesn't mean it lacks depth. In fact, Kingstreet's latest runs the gamut of human emotion better than a sorority sister hopped up on Red Bull vodkas. On "In N' Out," rolling toms and danceable bass lines lead into a punk driven chorus (for the fighters), while "Wish I Had Words" and "All For You" are emotional ballad-esque lighter teasers (for the lovers).
Singer Matt Burks' robust and rich vocals call to mind Elvis Costello or Art Alexakis, while his borderline silly, sometimes earnest lyrics meld perfectly with Kingstreet's airwave ready sound.
