Album Notes

When was the last time a song made you laugh? If it's been too long then you need Scott Kirby's Grand Bar Schemes in your CD collection.

Scott's fingerstyle acoustic guitar playing is accompanied by witty and at times poignant lyrics. Kirby is a masterful musical storyteller.

This full length CD offers a broad range of lyrical topics, such as the frustrations of remodeling in This Old House, to the perils of too much time in a bar on Grand Bar Schemes to the exquisite instrumental duet Rosewood and Cedar, to the introspective The Middle Ages.

Scott Kirby is very good, lyrics and music are superb. His style is unique and while somewhat Buffet like, it is differnt and pleasant to listen to.

I was pleasantly surprised by this CD and artist. I have been a Jimmy Buffett fan for the past 13 years and own almost all of his music. But lately Buffetts music has changed. No longer does his music have the soul of a struggling artist, living a simple life in the Caribbean. Scott Kirby has now acquired that soul. His music takes you away from your typical day in the office, to the heart of the Keys. Where you visit the places, the atmosphere, and the characters that make it such a unique place. His mastery of the acoustic guitar lifts you up, and his lyrical verse wisks you away to a sun-drenched beach with a frozen tropical drink in your hand. Here's hoping that Scott manages to get the recognition he deserves (along with the album sales), but still keeps his feet planted on the deck and his hand on the tiller. Now if CD Baby would just carry his other album "Too Damn Yankee" (hint, hint).

I'm so happy to see that Scott's music is hitting widespread Internet distribution. Not to be saying Scott isn't a good looking guy, but it seems these days that unless you're a 15-year old girl with barbie doll looks, talent can go unseen. Scott has loads of it, and this music is just pure and simply a joy to listen to. I've literally worn out my old CD so I'm here to replace it. I can't praise it enough in words so I just wanted to be one more voice here in the void...
