Live At Deanna's [1996] A collection of past and contemporary jazz standards that also includes Deanna's own compositions. Recorded live at Deanna's thriving club in the East Village, NYC. Her sidemen are the same senior Harlem jazz musicians who accompanied Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong. They frequently graced Deanna's club until 4 AM. Deanna's reflections: "I hold a special place in my heart for this recording. It was my first commercial release. It was an honor to record with the great musicians that played at Deanna's many of which were legends in the jazz world. The songs we selected for this release authentically show what it was like to be at Deanna's on any given night."

This was the first CD I've purchased from CD Baby and it was a great experience. The music was great, I wanted to get up and dance. As a matter of fact I did dance and sing along---dificult to do while driving!!! Read more...
What I love about this record is how it truly captures a very warm and wonderful club -- one which I spent many nights in ... the beautiful voice, and excellent playing of some of my favorite players (and mentor, Leonard Gaskin) makes this record more than just a collection of tunes.
