Mariana Trench [1996]
Deanna's first studio album which hit the Billboard charts in 1996. This is a great art-rock album which includes her beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Song of Bernadette", the highly original cover version of Sandy Denny's "Who Knows Where The Time Goes", and her own unique compositions. Following "Live At Deanna's" release, the sound here are blends of softly electrified jazz sessions... The critical response was impressive. Billboard Magazine featured Deanna on their front page as the flagship artist at Blackbird Recording Company. Deanna was featured in People Magazine, the New York Times, Time Out, New York Magazine and many other media publications.
Deanna's reflections:
"Recording at the Power Station in NYC was an incredible experience for me.
Here I had top notch musicians supporting the project and The Power Station is one of the best studios in New York City. I felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to be part of BlackBird Recording Company. I was always allowed to express myself freely."

Deanna Sounds Great-More Pop than her usual jazz Style
author: Ed Daly
This was a pleasant surprise. Deanna's choice of songs is a perfect blend. She has more guitar than piano on this and it's more popular music than jazz. I really enjoyed this side of Ms. Kirk.As usual her voice is superb and her phrasing--masterful.
