There’s an acoustic concoction brewing in Colorado, and brothers Wes and Ryan are ready to share it with you. This smooth combination of original sounds and styles is becoming well known as… The Kirkpatrick Project.
Growing up in a musically oriented family, the Kirkpatrick brothers didn’t even need to leave the house to find their first musical instruments.
“I remember wailing on a harmonica and banging on the piano when I was little, but I don’t know if that really counts,” Ryan joked. “Our grandpa played a mean mandolin, and that was the first stringed instrument I learned how to play.”
When Ryan picked up the guitar, he handed the mandolin to Wes, and before long they were side-by-side playing guitars.
As the year 2005 came to a close, The Kirkpatrick Project opened a new door with the release of their first studio album Here We Go. Acoustic hooks and memorable lyrics drive the album’s songs into your head and to your heart. The recording also boasts the work of Jason Hollar on bass, Peter Knudson on drums, Chris Hatton on keys, and was produced by Christopher Jak.
“We had a lot of fun recording this album,” said Wes. “It’s the perfect introduction of The Kirkpatrick Project to the world.”
Currently, TKP is trying to make time to come play the new songs for you. If you pay attention to when Ryan is on the road running races with the Colorado State University track team, you could even luck out and catch a solo show with Wes.
Solo shows and full band shows are possibilities, but you will often spot these brothers on the road as an acoustic duo. No matter what the ingredients of the band are, you will most likely find yourself singing and dancing the night away. So… what are you waiting for?
