Album Notes

Featuring multi-award winning recording artists Kevin Mark and Dale Boyle, “Deep Fried and Countrified” is loaded with catchy original songs that take the listener on a roots music journey that starts with a rollicking house party in the band’s anthem “Shake Your Kitchen Down”. The rockabilly vibe is set with “Travelin’ Bone”, “She’s Mine” and Kevin’s energetic remake of Dale’s original folk/blues-inspired “If I Come Back”, while shades of acoustic-blues can be heard on “Crack In The Pavement”. The band heads south for the Cajun-influenced “Je T’Aimerai Pour Tout L’Temps” – complete with French lyrics! “Tennessee", gets the full-band kitchen party treatment, while country flavors are abound in Dale's complete reworking of Kevin's original jump-blues number "So Blue Without You”. The Kitchen Shakers also add their unique touch to the timeless traditional classics “Froggie Went A Courtin’”, “St. James Infirmary” and “House Of The Rising Sun”.

The instrumentation on “Deep Fried and Countrified” is as diverse and the songs themselves. Vocals, guitars, mandolin, kazoo and percussion are handled by Kevin and Dale, while guest appearances from notable first-rate musicians Rick Haworth (pedal steel), Olivier Demers (fiddle), Guy Donis (banjo) and Peter Mika (piano) add just the right balance to the recording. The core band is rounded off with Rob "Big Daddy" Marcheterre on drums and Mike Reilly on the upright bass.
