Gravity

by Kite

Sounds like classic rock with intelligent lyrics. Goes from groovy stoney vibe to a jazz torch song to very hard hitting rock. This is thinking person's rock

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
We know, it's expensive. . .

But this is not your normal record. It's packaged box set of unique and original art, music and words-- and there are very few left-- thus, the price. If you would like the jewel case CD go to www.kitetheband.com.

Here's more about the release:

"...fearless about pushing the
boundries of art and expression..."
- Cynthia Taggart, Spokesman Review, Spokane, WA

"...Positively riveting..."
- John Collinge, Progression Magazine

"Gravity is a strong debut, independently produced and immaculately packaged...The group does well to mesh several styles without lifting trademark cliche's. Kite is a class act..."
- John Melton, Expose' magazine
------
"This might be the most elaborate independently produced package I've ever seen. The single CD comes in a jewel case enclosed in a large, foam padded, die-cut box also containing two separate booklets- an oversized 24-pager with complete lyrics and original artwork, plus a 70-page volume of excerpts from drummer Michael Koep's personal journal. A group logo sticker completes the offering...One thing for sure- Kite doesn't skimp on production, either musically or in terms of packaging.
- John Collinge, Editor, Progression magazine

Kite is currently playing live throughout the United States and beyond.

Too Good, too smart, too needed today.
I happened upon KITE by accident and was a fan after the first listen-- but prior to that I found that this group was much more than just a rock band, they are artists in the true sense of the word. The bold first release of a "box set" was, at first, difficult for me to swallow, that is, until I opened it up. What I found was a complete set of original art, a journal, a CD and a sticker. The art was captivating and illustrated the lyrics in the most fascinating manner that I was quick to slide the CD in to see if the music was my taste. And to my great surprise I was elated to find that the entire work of Gravity was one conceptual collection of intense and passionate work. Monte Thompson's vocal delivery was unlike any singer that you'll hear today. His approach is not 'canned'. It is unusual and healing to the ear, especially compared to all of the music that we are fed on the radio. Kite has given us something that too many bands don't...care, craft, heart and mind. All in a box. Get it and open it. It will change the definition of what you call good. I am happy to share in the fact that I am a KITE fan, and I know that KITE fans share the same kind of taste I do. We like the good stuff. KITE Rocks.

Plug them in, fasten your seatbelt, and enjoy the FLIGHT....
Take a Journey with KITE, fly next to them, and experience the sense of soaring between songs that will leave you breathless. Monte Thompson's unique vocal style can weave a pattern like a bi-plane uses smoke screens in an Air Show. The first two cuts of "gravity" sets the musical scene and lures the listener into believing that they are holding the string and guiding the KITE from the ground. The third cut "SPELLBOUND", unravels the musical Mystery and tells us Who is really in control. The entire CD has musical twists and turns designed to make the listener think. I was totally mesmerized on how easily the Band drifts between amplification and acoustic guitar playing. KITE has the ability to put goose bumps on your arms one minute and then make you weep with joy over the softness of a wonderful Ballad. The exquisite guitar playing by Scott Clarkson and Monte Thompson makes "gravity" a truly remakable work of Musical Art. Michael Koep provides some of the best drumming I've heard in a long time and in my opinion is truly a remarkable Percussionist. Doug Smith is on Bass and has a unique way of setting the mood and pace of each and every song. The four members of KITE are exceptional musicians and demonstrate in the song "In Sum" how closely knit and tight their playing really is. This CD needs to be in your music collection. You won't believe what comes through the mail when your package arrives. KITE will leave a lasting impression and make you want to HEAR more..... Bob Peppler

Truly wonderful musical journey
I'm not going to beat around the bush! You NEED this musical work to make your life complete! You NEED to hear how fantastic this band really is! The moment the album starts to ooze through your hi-fi speakers you realise that something very special is about to assault your senses.
The vocals, harmonies, playing everything is just perfect. The band effortlessly flow between different styles and moods without losing the listener in the process. It really is the best collection of SONGS I've heard for years. It is pretty impossible to pick out single tracks for praise as the CD comes across as a complete work rather than a collection of tunes tacked together. If I was pushed I would say at the moment Sunshine Blue is a favourite, a beautiful ballad with some enchanting words. Another song Evening News raises the tempo with its frenetic pace and superb rhythmic vocal sections. The song Laughable is just cool! But hey...my favourites change from day to day!
Superb....more please!!!!!

A must have for fans that thinking music
Gravity is the sort of release that you expect from a major label band, not a independent release. From the moment you open up this package you will not be disapointed.
The music is soul stirring. It paints vivid pictures in your mind as you listen to It. The singer Monte Thompson is one of the few vocalist who understands the voice is a musical instrument and use's it to it's fullest. The drumming is world class and the original artwork by the drummer is impressive. The guitar work is not over done and fits perfectly, and the the bass playing lays down a groove that keeps everything flowing.
For fans that like music that has some thought put into it, this will disapoint you. It is an intelligent release that does not skimp on production.
