ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Kris Kitko delights and surprises audiences with her “disarming sense of humor” and “musical superpowers” (Chicago Tribune). Her quirky brand of comedy, unique guitar playing style, and soul-searching lyrics have Guitar Noise predicting that “Kitko is a name that will go far.”
Kristin Kitko has shared the bill with performers such as Ferron, Rhiannon, SONiA (of Disappear Fear), and Chuck Suchy. Her performance at a sold-out show in Chicago’s American Airlines Concert Hall earned her rave reviews and a number of radio, Internet radio, and podcast appearances. Her CD Kitko was declared “Debut of the Year” by Windy City Times.

Kitko uses 6 strings and a ton of humor to make her points and tell her stories. Her musical skit "On Becoming a Woman and Other Lies" gets the audience rolling in the aisles, and “The Bitch Song,” which the Windy City Times claims "has "anthem written all over it" has them shaking their fists in laughter. Kitko delights her audiences with a reminder that we've all got issues with her hysterical sing-along "Everybody's Family Is Messed Up (Including Yours and Especially Mine)."

Every now and then Kitko steps back into a more introspective mood and delivers winding melodies and lyrics. "Feel" takes us down Any Street in Any Town, USA, and gives us a door-to-door tour of the lives of all those strangers living on your block--from the former homecoming queen to the retired truck driver.

But enough of that...before you know it, Kris Kitko has you laughing again, maybe at a politician, maybe at the weather, or maybe at yourself.

Kitko has shared the stage with Ferron, Rhiannon, Sarah Douger, Scott Free, and Chuck Suchy. She has performed at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music and at Women & Children First. Kitko has been featured on radio programs such as Windy City Radio, Laney Goodman's "Women in Music," and on Prairie Public Radio and Minnesota Public Radio.

Kristin Kitko enjoys being part of her community. She has performed to raise money for domestic violence programs, animal shelters, children's services, and urban renewal projects.
