Album Notes

INTERBORO TECTONICS
No force is capable of containing the power of the Earth's tectonic plates; constantly in motion, they grind & collide, resulting in high mountain ranges, explosive volcanic eruptions, and destructive earthquakes.

Similarly, in New York City, no man can control the results of the complex cultural & social movements of the people who reside here, and the interactions, tensions, & conflicts that arise between groups result in massive and unpredictable releases of energy.

This cultural friction is the source that fuels the album,
"INTERBORO TECTONICS" by DJ Kiva featuring vocalist Anthony Mills.
Recorded by the two in a collaborative effort, it reveals a multi-dimensional soundscape of human emotions, from the fiery declarations of "Stressin' You," to the soulful lover's dance vibes of "U Like Me," to the heartfelt trumpets of the closing requiem, "Into Twilite."

This album pulls the listener into new unexplored areas of sound.
8 of the 12 tracks featured are in Kiva's unique style of music, StuttaStep: a blend of off-the-ritcher scale bass, beyond broken beats, afrocuban riddims, and dubwise mixing flavors. Though many of these songs break ground into new rhythmic forms, they are indeed club tracks designed to mash up speakerboxes and move the crowd, songs equally at home on hi-powered soundsystems as they are for the headphone meditations of the urban traveller.
An album of many depths, from start to finish, this album stands unique and powerful.

Creating a stir in the underground NYC music community since it's introduction on cdr, the album has won the approval of listeners from the communities of Hip-Hop, Broken Beat, Jungle, Reggae, and Soul Music, and continues reaching outward to listeners nationwide & internationally.

"Interboro Tectonics" is a soundtrack of upliftment , resistance, compassion, and perseverance in the face of all challenges of today's complex world.

A perfect union of two-step, dub, roots, soul, and broken beat laced with jazz.

It has been a while since my ears have been treated to a new direction, or progression in a music sound...genre if you will. NY-based artist DJ KIVA aka David Luz, and his signature sound "Stutta-step" have formed a perfect union of two-step, dub, roots, soul, and broken beat laced with jazz. Coming out of New York's sound collective Brooklyn Massive, DJ Kiva has been making noise for some time now. His new album Interboro Tectonics is definitely intelligent in its production, layers of percussion and bass kicks, and spaced with the featured guest Anthony Mills on vocals. This album should be making some noise in the coming months - check for it at www.adiosbabylon.com. For those who are fans of 4 Hero, Bugz in The Attic, Al Haca Sound System...check it out. -Damon Bell

Kiva is limitless in his futuristic laboratory experiments.

In dedication to the Brooklyn streets he canvasses daily, Kiva dubbed his sound StuttaStep to showcase the many global influences in this here Babylon (even his studio name, Adios Babylon, pays respect). Heavily focused on broken beat and D&B, with flavorful bass and head nods to reggae and Afro-Cuban rhythms, Interboro Tectonics plays more like a compilation of several artists merging and building a warehouse of sound. Vocalist Anthony Mills, still rolling from his gorgeous Ghettotrance release, gives this industrious exploration a welcome touch of soul. Just as his hometown streets are boundless, Kiva is equally limitless in his futuristic laboratory experiments.
