Born in southern Sweden to a swedish mother and an african (Gabon) father, Kjell early showed a genuine interest in music. He took drum lessons at the age of 10 and taught himself playing the guitar in his upper teens. That's also when he started writing his own music.
"When it comes to musical taste I think I’m all over the place, and I’d like to think my music is pretty multifaceted, very melodic”.
The music is layered with groovy rhythms and a balanced mix of acoustic and electric power guitars, strings, and nice vocal arrangements. All embraced by a textured and live sound.
"I've been lucky to work with people with great industry experience who helped me get the most out of the songs and get that live feeling to them”. Frank Ferrer, a drummer and former member of Love Spit Love and Psychedelic Furs, and as of 2006 a member of Guns N' Roses, plays on five tracks on Kjell's debut album The Benevolent King. Another key contributor is Anthony Paul Donelson, a guitarist who came out of the same camp as Lenny Kravitz and spent years with Dave Matthew. He has worked with Snoop Dogg, Cher, Gerald LeVert, and Silk among others. Just to name a few of those people.
Kjell's lyrics are thoughtful but accessible. They lead you in a certain direction without revealing everything and yet touch the listener.
“I want to leave something for the listener’s own imagination. Like providing a framework or a theme and then you let the listener go from there. You let them think a little for themselves”.
The music is fused with a very unique look, image & feel to reflect the original sound of the artist.
