...with a voice and lyrics to match the sweet strains of his guitar, Kevin could be Seattle's version of Jackson Browne."

notes

With a voice and lyrics to match the sweet strains of his guitar, Seattle's version of Jackson Browne**, Kevin Jones' music is rhythmic and colorful. His lyrics are touching and very accessible. His shows have fans both dancing and listening with equally divided enthusiasm. His willingness to experiment with a variety of different acoustic guitars and odd tunings and always reaching for that invisible bass tone makes people wonder sometimes where the rest of the band is hiding. Whether solo or with as many as 9 pieces Kevin Jones is truly a Northwest treasure.

Kevin is out performing in support of his soon to be released 4th CD (untitled) on Diversity Records Ltd. Kevin Jones works extensively as soloist and band leader (Kevin Jones Band), as a session player, and has composed music for film and video for corporate and independent projects. He is a founding member of the Northwest-based acoustic band "3 Track Mind". 3 Track appeared in the 1996 Academy Award nominated film Georgia as Mare Winningham's backing group. His latest solo release, Hester Street, feels like the work of a guy who's been there and done that, but who's still firing on all cylinders, always ready to lay down that next great track or write that next great song.

Kevin performs mostly solo, duo and with The Kevin Jones Band but has shared stages with Roseanne Cash, John Hiatt, Bruce Cockburn, Joan Baez, The Laura Love Band, Marc Cohn, Michael Tomlinson, Catie Curtis, and various Northwest musicians which includes his former band "3 Track Mind", the Seattle-based band "Toast", former members of Ranch Romance, and Larry Murante, to name a few.

  • Strong songs, great playing, first class production

This CD starts with a top track, "Hester St." - A taste for things to come! Moving forward, the songs, playing and superb production promise a great CD. "Sister Souls" is a fantastic track, as are "Talk to Me" and "Timing is Everything". Throughout the CD I loved the playing skill of Kevin and his band (special mention to Kim Brusco on a delightfully tasty 5 string bass). The guitar tones, both acoustic and electric were great. The production and atmosphere make everything gel beautifully. The 'negatives'? "Jack's Blues", although well played, breaks the flow a little. It's the only solo guitar piece and such feels out of place. Was this a good purchase? You bet! Al.
