ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sings Out is the first solo release by Caleb Klauder. This record was produced by long time friend and collaborator Luther Russell. His songs have been compared to those of Steve Earle, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. This recording showcases Caleb's refreshing songwriting style and unique voice, as well as his talent as a mandolin player. On Sings Out Caleb shows his various musical influences starting with rock music and branching out into traditional and old time. This record is tied together with Caleb's rich and powerful voice. Caleb Klauder is also a songwriter and vocalist for the band Calobo.

"Caleb Klauder's first solo release is nothing short of Outstanding! Four stars!" - JoAnna Kasper - The Oakland Tribune

“ For everyone trying to find a new name that's worth listening to, this is it. Caleb Klauder, we're keeping an eye on you.” - Roots Town Magazine

"Former Calobo co-leader Caleb Klauder…turns out to be a…singer-songwriter with a rich country-flavored voice that sounds like Townes Van Zandt one minute and Doug Sahm the next. His simple (but not simpleminded) honkytonk ditties could easily coax half the bar into that city cowboy shuffling-waltz thing they call dancing these days." – Willamette Week

"Klauder has fashioned a solo debut album that has plenty of his old band's melodic ease and unassuming personability, but also an admirable lean feel and bit of grit." - The Oregonian

"Sings Out (Padre), a beautiful collection of Dylan-esque songs showcasing his rich voice, musical prowess and imaginative lyrics…” - Seattle City Search

Caleb Klauder has assembled an all-star 5 piece band to back the amazing songs collected on his debut record Sings Out.

Caleb Klauder (Calobo, Foghorn Leghorn, Pigiron): vocals, guitars
Jenny Conlee (Calobo, Decemberists): piano, accordion
Lewi Longmire (Apricot Jam, James Low Band): vocals, guitars
Jesse Emerson (Flatirons, Amelia, Decemberists): electric bass
Chris Hutton (Hazeldine): drums

Is it rock, folk or country?
Great music in an unusual style. Memories of Jerry Jeff and
Dylan come through. You find yourself humming the melodies
later in the day. Great cd. Super new artist.

Great find!
My wife was watching a cooking show and in the background, I heard some great tunes and saw that there was a live band. After a quick google search, I found this CD, and have been enjoying it ever since. Not sure how to describe the style, but its fresh and enjoyable.

more than five stars
I've had this album since Caleb first put it out in 2000, and nine years later it is still one of my "desert island discs". Caleb Klauder is one of the most talented song-writers out there, and this album runs the gamut from country, to rock and folk, much like Tom Petty or Neil Young. Excellent songs, great arrangements, and Caleb's unique voice keep you enthralled from the opening honky-tonk guitar or "Fall Like a Man" to the eerie mandolin instrumental "Caleb's Lament". I'd give this more than five stars if I could.
