el-Hadra is the rhythmic Trance-Meditation of the Sufis.
Recorded in the rhythmic trance style of the Sufi mystical tradition. Soaring phrasing and light pulsating tablas are supported by ethereal sounds from the zither. The pulse of the rhythm is very important because it corresponds with the breath and heartbeat at the same time. This leads to FANA - the devotion to the almightiness of Allah. Starting slowly then accelerating and intensifying el-Hadra is breathtaking, a world class masterpiece in 53 minutes in length with no pauses whirling ecstasy.

Quotes from fans:
The music has quite a hypnotic pull, and this is probably my top-favourite "new-age" CD.
An excellent background for massage, yoga, tai chi, cooking, gardening, writing,--anything that requires you to be "in the present moment".
An ideal accompaniment during a yoga practice, especially as the total CD time clocks in at just under an hour, giving time at the completion of the practice for a silent music-free savasana.
El-Hadra is an extremely quiet CD from Klaus Wiese, Mathias Grassow, and Ted DeJong. It features one long-form (52 minutes) composition. Wiese is on the zither, DeJong is on the tabla, and Grassow is on the keyboards and synths. The atmospheres surround low-key melodies. The center of the soundscape is the drone. The subtle rhythms come and go. The tabla has definite melodic qualities much like a didg sounding electronic. The zither shimmers and the synth just rolls through the arrangement. This psychoactive set is a winner. It will appeal to fans of Ashera, Ma Ja Le, Oƶphoi, Steve Roach, and Robert Rich. by Jim Brenholts (All Music Guide)

el-Hadra" succeeds where many other discs of this genre fail miserably

There's a fine line between a boring trance disc and a trance disc that grab your attention so fully that it becomes your soundtrack for the duration of its play. One of the key ingredients to making a good trance disc is sound quality-oftentimes, this means ruling out a good 90% of electronic instruments and either going with the 10% that provide crystal quality sound, or using "real" instruments. This is why "el-Hadra" succeeds where many other discs of this genre fail miserably-while some keyboard is present here, the main focal point here is on the tabla (percussion) and the zither (string) used throughout the recording, making for a beautifully clean sound that's hard to just let fade into the background, but still remains calming and inoffensive.
