This incredible compilation CD features 17 of the leading artists in today's international Klezmer and New Jewish music scene, appearing together on the same CD together for the first time. This CD is easily the BEST klezmer compilation CD yet produced anywhere. It has something for listeners of every kind, for deeply immersed experts to more casual neophytes interested in hearing the current state of the klezmer world. This eclectic anthology ranges from the traditional to the avant-garde, from raucous brass bands to delicate string ensembles, from hot instrumental showpieces to tender ballads, and much more. Bulgars, freylekhs, horas, sirbas, klezmer Hip-Hop, Klez-electronica, Yiddish, fusion, and much more. There are also 4 previously unreleased tracks on this collection, available nowhere else.
KlezKanada is an annual festival of Klezmer and Yiddish music taking place for a week in the Laurentian Mountains every August. The faculty at this festival includes most of the leading figures in the klezmer music world, each of whom graciously agreed to donate a track to this CD compilation, which raises funds to support KlezKanada's world-renowned scholarshiup program.
Artists included on this cd are: German Goldenshteyn, SoCalled, Shtreiml, Khupe, Frank London, Marilyn Lerner, Elaine Hoffman-Watts, Chicago Klezmer Ensemble, Beyond the Pale, Alex Kontorovich, Strauss/Warschauer Duo, Rushefsky and Rosenblatt, David Krakauer, Brave Old World, Adrienne Cooper, Steven Greenman, Susan Watts.
