This is an album of songs from a 74 year old Portuguese Religious Festival, The Our Lady of Miracles Festa, held every September in the small city Gustine, California. The festival is attended by thousands each year on the second weekend of September.
The songs have been part of the festa/festival since it's beginning. The songs are so beautiful and people who have been brought up with them say the songs make them cry. The songs are sung at the novenas and played by the band in the Parade of Queens and Procession of Saints on Sunday.
Kathy's fondest memory was during the Candlelight Procession when thousands were carrying candles and walking and praying the rosary while carrying the statue of Our Lady of Miracles. At the end of the 2 mile walk and when they were coming into the park to the outdoor chapel or capella, she heard her music being played through an array of huge speakers. Everyone started singing the song, "Hozana." Tears stung her eyes as she realized this was why she made the Cd so that the beautiful songs would never be forgotten. What a thrill it was to hear thousands in unison singing the beautiful song in Portuguese. She hopes the Festa in Gustine will never end and continue to bring thousands of people every year to honor Our Lady of Miracles.
