Album Notes

Kojo Modibo Sun is not just a band. It's a movement. The newest face of Harlem Rock, Kojo Modibo Sun is about sound and space, taking the melding of rock, blues, gospel, soul, and country & western to entirely new places.

Kojo Modibo Sun's story begins with Scott Patterson, walking alone through the mountains for two months as he searched for balance in his life. It was on that pilgrimage that Patterson laid the seeds for what he wanted to be the ultimate power-rock band. Faced with nothing but the sounds of nature, Patterson recalled the rhythm and soul of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, James Brown, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Earth Wind and Fire, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Donny Hathaway, The Who, Van Halen, Jackson Five, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic and Queen.
On his return, Patterson was encouraged to begin writing music about his travels by his them roommate, Kenny Bentley. Once he finished writing, he linked up with Bentley, Farai Malianga, Yorel Lashley, Toby Wine, and Moses Patrou to begin recording The Ballad Of Kojo Modibo Sun, the group's debut album.

Two years since that revelatory trek in the mountains, Kojo Modibo Sun is a strong, vibrant, rebellious, MOVEMENT of liberation for all. With the hypnotic melodies and harmonies of soul music and the raw power and energy of hard rock, Kojo Modibo Sun will surely move you. The band now consists of Scott Patterson on lead vocals and piano, Farai Malianga on percussion and vocals, Kenneth Bentley on bass and vocals, Toby Wine on lead and rhythm guitar, David Alston on drums and Dammian Moore on vocals.
As Patterson opens each show with his signature incantation of KOJO.....MODIBO......SUN!!!!!!!!, you will be swept away into the new, fresh sounds of Harlem Rock.
