Album Notes

KNOW-FLOW

Know-Flow, born Andrew Grimes, grew up in Philadelphia during the mid 80’s and through the 90’s. Raised by ambitious and musically inclined parents, Know-Flow developed an interest in musical performance and hard work. He began taking classical piano and jazz saxophone lessons in middle school. Though he loved these genres, he soon became more interested in Hip Hop.

During High School, Grimes began spinning at high school parties, where he was dubbed “Know-Flow”. The back story to his stage-name is quite simple; he would seamlessly mix various genres of music at parties, as though he was one with the rhythm. He knew that, if mixed properly, there was a flow to everything, hence “Know-Flow”. Simultaneously, Know-Flow began producing beats for his brother, Odyssey.

By high school graduation, Know-Flow began gaining momentum with his music career. At Lafayette College, he became the Vice President of a new music organization known as “Just About Making Music” (J.A.M.M). He began producing Hip Hop, RnB, Rock, Jazz, and House. After helping founders Hiro Kiyono and Cerrissa Low produce a compilation album entitled “JAMM vol. 1”, Flow began working on his Freshman album entitled “Problematic”(2006 on iTunes)With utter disregard for music classifications, Problematic provided Hip Hop, Soul, Pop, and Know-Flow’s own brand of Hip Hop-Rock.
After Know-Flow’s success with Problematic, and graduation from Lafayette College, he would leave Easton, Pa and head to College Park, MD for the next step. In College Park, Flow teamed up with college friends A-non and Novacayne, and began recording his Sophomore album “Tip-Mode”. Know-Flow’s elevated level of lyricism, production, and swagger, in addition to guest features from a plethora of talented artist, makes Tip-Mode a very promising album. Fans of this artist will surely relish in the dynamic musical composition of this forthcoming album.
