Album Notes

Knut is one of our favorite newer artists around the NW, and he's here to help fill a void left by the death of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings in the area of deeper voiced singers. Knut hails from the Sedro Woolley area north of Seattle and is a fine songwriter, having penned 10 of the 13 songs on his new CD. The title gives an idea of his sound, which is solidly in the Country music area, with slapped upright bass, and including titles like "Gizzards N' Beer", "Yakima Girl" and "Local Yokel Lounge". The 3 covers are "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town", "So Doggone Lonesome" and "Chick Inspector". Knut's Blue Collar credentials are solid, too - this isn't some sort of snotnose art school dropout kind of country music (with apologies of course to the Beatles who did write at least a couple of solid country classics). Honkahillarockabilly is coolest album I've heard in a loooong time
author: Tore Brennodden, Norway
The title of this album tells excatly what the music is all about. Finally we have an artist that carry on the music of country music greats like Dick Curless, Dave Dudley, Johnny Cash (sun-period) and Sleepy LaBeef. Even though he reminds me of these singers he is totally standing on his own musical ground. The Blue Collars is doing a great job behind Knut. Especially I'd like to mention Andrew See, he is a genius on the slap bass. Two of several favorite tracks are Chick Inspector and Felina. Really hope to hear more of this music from Knut Bell, the King of Honkahillarockabilly.
