Album Notes

The world of funk embraces its influences and it always will. Welcome funk’s most engaging inductee… K.O.E. Is it the rhythmatic textured groove spawning from the guitar, the bombastic bass, and percussion that sets K.O.E. apart from the rest? The eclectic, high-energy infusion of funk, hip-hop, and rock is where the Evolution currently presides. The very different, musical influences of each band member is what creates its dance-addictive appeal and each live show is full of relentless energy, vivid stage presence, and all out commitment. Band members include: Kevin “MC” Clink: vocals, percussion, didjiridu Tim Clifton: bass, vocals Rob “5000” Neff: guitar Ron “Kodiak” Freeman: drums, percussion. K.O.E.’s performances include packed houses at The Recher Theatre (Towson, MD), The 8x10 (Baltimore, MD), The Grape Street Pub (Philadelphia, PA), The Hard Rock Café in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Staccato (Washington D.C.) and TT Reynolds (Fairfax, VA). They have supported national touring acts such as NRBQ, Gaelic Storm, Maktub, Freekbass, Breaking Benjamin, The F-Ups, Bio Ritmo, Sev, Fighting Gravity, and Arcane. K.O.E. has also been broadcast live with multiple on-air appearances. These include performances at 103.1 WRNR radio (Annapolis, MD) and WMUC 88.1 (College Park, MD). Their music has been in rotation on WRNR radio and 98 Rock 97.9 WIYY (Baltimore, MD). “Brooklyn Castle” from their CD “Premium Original” was chosen by WHFS 99.1 (Washington D.C.) radio to be featured on a “Best of Local Music, Washington D.C.” compilation CD in 2004. In the summer of 2004, they finished as a national finalist in ‘A Shot at the Cabo Wabo’, a battle of the bands competing K.O.E. against hundreds of other local talent across the country. With this achievement, they received sponsorship from Cabo Wabo Tequila, Guitar.com, Crate Amps, Hard Rock Café, Oasis CDs, Gibson guitars, Sonicbids.com, and Nokia telephones. K.O.E. has also received many positive regional reviews and press including a note-worthy, live performance review from Hall of Fame producer Robert Metzger. Since 1999, K.O.E. has been surprising new faces and continues to impress familiar ones. They have released 3 full-length albums: -“Premium Original” released Fall 2003 -“NO2” released Fall 1999, and the most recent album "Language Like No Other". All three albums were produced and mastered by Jerome Maffeo, an Emmy-award winning producer and seasoned drummer (Jimmy’s Chicken Shack, Can't Hang, Fidel) . K.O.E. has sold over 2,000 albums and looks to forward to a strong public response to their latest album, "Language Like No Other", just released in March of 2009.
