DAS KABARETT is the title of Karen Kohler's first album and cabaret act, begun with the late pianist/singer Larry Greenawalt in 1994 in Austin, Texas. On tour for 5 years, the duo's talents converged in the theater songs of Weimar Berlin, chansons of 1940's Paris, and seldom-heard American Pop of the 20s, 30s and 40s.

This album captures the spirit of the era and of these two very individual performers - one born in Germany, the other in rural Indiana. Over the years, audiences have received these songs as a revelation, and their enthusiasm has prompted Karen to become a sought-after historian of the era, its performers and composers. Now based in New York City, her career as singer/producer/director and teacher is thriving.

Karen will donate a portion of the sales of these songs to the Greenawalt Memorial Fund in Ann Arbor, MI in Larry’s memory.
