Asano's idea for this piece was recording acoustic instruments in the outside, to improvise with summer insects, like cicadas which you can easily find in summer in Japan. Similar piece you could find in his past catalog is "You can't open the door because it's already open"(1997) which recorded in the old castle in Puskin, Russia. It was also his improvised piano playing with sounds around the castle, like bus passing, people talking, winds, all other noises from inside and outside of the castle. But in this CD "Wind Gauge", those summer insects were not as a surrounding source but as the main reaction of piano improvisation.
