After two early albums of traditional blues, followed by six album's of their own striking songs, New Zealand band Kokomo returned to a labour of love that they have planned for many years - an album of the songs of Bob Dylan.
This isn't your standard album of politely-imitated Dylan favourites. The songs have been totally absorbed into Kokomo's unique blend of blues, jazz and country, with superb musicianship - including remarkable string virtuoso Nigel Gavin (Robert Fripp, Gitbox Rebellion, Nairobi Trio) on electric guitar, mandolin and banjo - and singing from Derek Jacombs that truly digs inside the lyrics, illuminating previously neglected gems and finding different nuances and interpretations in familiar places.
Whether you never listen to Bob Dylan, or are sick of bland reworkings of his songs, or simply dig the distinctive funky Kokomo blend of blues harp, trumpet and guitars, this album is a tasty aural banquet.

Bob covers at it's best
author: Bert Fehlow
after I've wrote a review to this album, I realize that I've wrote an e-mail to this artists. Fortunately it was a 5 stars review :-)
In other words: Kokomo did a great job on this Dylan classics. They bring different styles to the songs and all is perfect. But not perfect in the meaning of polished sound, no, it's real handmade music by real people who know what they are doin'. Beware of misunderstandings: The SOUND is perfect!!! The songs, they choose to cover are well selected.

Quality without compromise
author: Vic Martell
Having been involved in the recording industry for thirty years I like to give credit where credit is due.The quality of this recording is simply outstanding! Recording a vocalist is an artform in itself and the capture of Derek Jacombs voice is a masterpiece, I would love to know how they did it.
This CD will be used as a benchmark for those in the professional audio community who aspire to excellence, myself included.
Unreservedly Recommended.
