At age 12, Kole received a beat-up, dull red, 1970’s generic electric guitar from his father and decided he wanted to learn how to play it. Originally inspired by bands like Metallica and Led Zeppelin, Kole started to form a foundation of rock and blues based music that eventually would dominate his playing and composition style. For the next 6 years he had no specific direction with music and only thought of the guitar as a hobby. However, three years ago his life changed when he met solo musician and virtuoso guitarist, Tom Hess. Since then, Kole has taken very large strides in improving himself musically and forwarding his career in the music industry.
Now at age 21, he has taught workshops in Chicago at the Oakbrook Academy of Music and Art, has released his debut album "Exile", has Co-Authored the E-book “Serious Improvement for the Developing Guitarist,”has finished two full years of classical composition and guitar at the revered Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and is currently attending Musicians Institute.

What a beautiful collection of songs! This is a great record for when you're just kicking back and relaxing. The depths of Kole's musical and compositional skills belie his relatively young age. I can't wait to hear him unleash the heavies on the Yang counterpart to this record!

Exile is the debut album from 21 year old Kyle Hicks who lives in Los Angeles. This eclectic record features ten songs of which Kyle plays all or most of the instruments as well as providing the vocals. Musically, Kyle is way ahead of his chronological age, which is refreshing as we live in the days of American Idol. His approach to each song is different and is informed by classical, jazz, rock and acoustic styles of music. Kyle has stated that the common theme for this record is the Eastern idea of Yin, or all that is feminine. The overall feel of this album is light, but that doesn't keep blistering guitar solos from creeping in. This record is a major solor effort from someone who we'll hear a lot more from.
