“He has a pearly touch, a sense of history, a sense of drama, a love of the blues, and an elegance which is borne of high minded dedication.”
The Konrad Paszkudzki Trio focuses exclusively on standards, or what we know as songs of the Great American Songbook. Treating the best of these with verve, and staying true to their original musical and lyrical content is what the trio strives for. By avoiding unnecessary gimmicks or technical trickery, a highly individual and inimitable expression is achieved. It’s essential that the melody statement is conveyed in a direct, simple, yet intriguing way, which allows for a concise solo narrative of elegance, with that indefinable nonchalant grace. The key to Konrad’s style of playing and the overall conception of the trio is based on discipline, eloquence, and sophistication, rather than sensationalism. From his fingers emanates a quiet intensity, enticing and balanced, all permeated by an aesthetic that embraces the invention of melodies and lyricism. There is something humble in this approach, but the attitude with which the music is delivered is one of confident passion. So as you sit back and let your ears tune in to the nifty sounds of Konrad’s trio, feel free to tap your foot, sizzle with the swing, and savor the thrill of an exquisite melodic phrase. It’s all there, and by no coincidence, because Konrad and his trio live and breathe what they play.
